In 2021, my life changed forever. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer.
In that moment, everything stopped. The future suddenly felt uncertain. Like many people facing a cancer diagnosis, I was overwhelmed by fear, questions, and the harsh reality of what lay ahead. Where do I get money for treatment. Every stage towards commencing requires money:
Diagnosis, Blood Tests, Scans, Biopsy, Chemotherapy, Surgery, Radiotherapy, Doctor’s Fees
But cancer did not just challenge my body, it challenged my spirit.
The treatment protocol was difficult. Chemotherapy took my hair, my strength, and many days my hope. Yet through the pain and uncertainty, one truth became clear; too many people face cancer alone, without information, support, or early detection.
I realized something deeply painful.
Many lives are lost not simply because of cancer, but because it is discovered too late.
Across communities, people lack access to screening, awareness, and support. Mothers, fathers, sisters, and friends are diagnosed when the disease has already advanced, like my own which was diagnosed at Stage 4.
That realization gave birth to Arise Against Cancer.
I founded this organization so that others would not have to face cancer without knowledge, hope, and support.
Today, Arise Against Cancer is working to bring life-saving cancer awareness, early detection, and survivor support directly to communities. Through outreach programs, education campaigns, and free screening initiatives, we are helping people recognize symptoms early and seek medical help before it is too late.
Every awareness session we hold, every screening we organize, and every survivor we support is part of a larger mission: to save lives through early detection.
But this mission cannot be achieved alone.
There are still thousands of people who do not know the warning signs of cancer. Many cannot afford screening services. Others are living with fear and stigma instead of hope and support.
